Amigurumi Super Mario Crochet Pattern

Super Mario, or simply Mario or Jumpman on his first appearance, is not only the most famous video game character in the world, but he is also certainly the most successful plumber of all time without ever having actually laid a single pipe.

Despite his less athletic figure, Mario has been jumping through water, forest, desert and fire worlds since 1981, saving Princess Peach from her perceived weekly kidnapping by Bowser.

If you’ve always wanted a little super plumber yourself, you can now crochet this little Mario for yourself.

Super Mario is crocheted with chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches and double crochet stitches in spiral rounds and in rows and is easy to crochet.

The depicted Amigurumi Super Mario has been crocheted with the “Schachenmayr Catania” yarn with a 2.5 mm crochet hook and has sitting a height of 5.5 cm.

Assembling

Legs: After you’ve finished crocheting all pieces, start sewing the legs onto the body. Start sewing the first leg onto the body directly over the edge that was created by the round that was crocheted only into the back loop. Sew on the second leg 4 to 5 stitches left or right from the first leg, again just over the edge.

Arms: Sew the arms left and right onto the body, 1 stitch row under the “neck”. Do not sew the arms directly over the legs but slightly behind the legs.

Eyes: Attach the safety eyes after the 7th stitch row counting from the top center of the head. The eyes are 4 stitches apart from each other.

Nose: Sew the nose centered, slightly down, between the eyes onto the head.

Beard: Sew the beard centered directly under the nose onto the head.

Eyebrows: Attach the eyebrows slightly slanted over the eyes, as shown in the picture. To do this, push with a tapestry needle one tail of an eyebrow through a stitch above an eye, let it emerge from the back of the head, cut the thread and hide the leftover inside the head.

Ears: Sew the ears 3 to 4 stitches right and left from the eyes onto the head, so that the upper part of the ear is on the same height as the eyes.

Suspenders: Attach one end of the suspender on the front at the beginning of the pants. Pull the suspender over the shoulder and attach the other end on the back side of the pants.

Repeat this in the same way for the second suspender.

Buttons: Make a knot with a Sun colored thread and pull it with a tapestry needle through the transition of suspender and pants. Hide the surplus thread inside the body. Attach a button on the left and right side.

Sideburns: Embroider the sideburns with a Coffee colored thread on the right and left side of the head with a tapestry needle as shown in the pictures.

Emblem: Sew the white emblem centrered onto the front of the hat.

Then use a tapestry needle and a Signal Red thread to embroider an “M” onto the white emblem.

Hat: Place the hat on the head. If necessary, it can also be sewn onto the head.
