Amigurumi Trolls Crochet Pattern

The Trolls have been successful since 1963 and have enjoyed great popularity among young and old, again and again until today.

Even though the trolls never did anything more than stand around and stare, they were always an eye-catcher with the most colorful hair on the toy market.

The crochet Trolls are crocheted with chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches, double crochet stitches and loop stitches in spiral rounds and is easy to crochet.

The depicted Amigurumi Trolls have been crocheted with the “Schachenmayr Catania” yarn with a 2.5 mm crochet hook and has sitting a height of 10 cm.

Crochet the Hair, Head and Body

The hair, head and body are crocheted in one piece in Cyclam and Bast or in Peacock and Sun-kissed in spiral rounds with loop stitches, slip stitches and single crochet stitches.

Use the check boxes to mark your finished rounds, rows and steps.

  • Crochet the hair, head and body in spiral rounds in Cyclam or Peacock.
  • Round 1: 6 sc into the Magic Ring (6 stitches).
  • Round 2: From now on crochet only loop stitches. [1 increase] repeat till end of the round (12 stitches).
  • Round 3: [1 loop stitch, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (18 stitches).
  • Round 4: 1 loop stitch, 1 increase, [2 loop stitches, 1 increase] repeat 5 times, 1 loop stitch (24 stitches).
  • Round 5: [3 loop stitches, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (30 stitches).
  • Round 6: Color change to Bast or Sun-kissed. 1 chain stitch, turn the crochet piece and continue crocheting in the opposite direction. Crochet 30 sc (30 stitches).

  • Round 7: 1 slip stitch. From here on continue crocheting with single crochet stitches. 29 sc (30 stitches).
  • Round 8-14: 7 rounds, each round 30 sc (30 stitches).
  • Round 15: [3 sc, 1 decrease] repeat till end of the round (24 stitches).
  • Round 16: 1 sc, 1 decrease, [2 sc, 1 decrease] repeat 5 times, 1 sc (18 stitches).
  • Round 17: [1 sc, 1 increase] repeat till end of the round (12 stitches).
  • Round 18: Crochet the complete round into the front loop only. [1 sc, 1 increase] repeat till the end of the round (18 stitches).
  • Round 19: Fill the head with polyfill. Crochet 18 sc (18 stitches).
  • Round 20: 1 sc, 1 increase, [2 sc, 1 increase] repeat 5 times, 1 sc (24 stitches).
  • Round 21-22: 2 rounds, each round 24 sc (24 stitches).
  • Round 23: 1 sc, 1 decrease, [2 sc, 1 decrease] repeat 5 times, 1 sc (18 stitches).
  • Round 24: Crochet the complete round into the back loop only. [1 sc, 1 decrease] repeat till end of the round (12 stitches).
  • Round 25: Fill the body with some polyfill, do not stuff the body too full. [1 decrease] repeat till end of the round (6 stitches).
  • Finish: Cut the yarn generously, close the opening, weave in and hide the leftover yarn.

Crochet the Legs (2x)

The legs are crocheted in Bast or Sun-kissed in spiral rounds with single crochet stitches. Crochet a total of 2 legs. The finished legs do not need to be filled with polyfill.

  • Crochet the legs in spiral rounds in Bast or Sun-kissed.
  • Round 1: 6 sc into the Magic Ring (6 stitches).
  • Round 2: [1 increase] repeat till end of the round (12 stitches).
  • Round 3: Crochet the complete round into the back loop only. Crochet 12 sc (12 stitches).
  • Round 4: Crochet 12 sc (12 stitches).
  • Round 5: [1 decrease] repeat till end of the round (6 stitches).
  • Round 6: Crochet 6 sc (6 stitches).
  • Finish: Cut the yarn generously and leave a long tail for sewing.

Crochet the Arms (2x)

The arms are crocheted in Bast or Sun-kissed in spiral rounds with single crochet stitches. Crochet a total of 2 arms.

  • Crochet the arms in spiral rounds in Bast or Sun-kissed.
  • Round 1: 6 sc into the Magic Ring (6 stitches).
  • Round 2: [1 increase] repeat till end of the round (12 stitches).
  • Round 3: [1 decrease] repeat till end of the round (6 stitches).
  • Round 4-5: 2 rounds, each round 6 sc (6 stitches).
  • Finish: Fill only the front part of the arm with polyfill. Cut the yarn generously and leave a long tail for sewing.

Crochet the Nose

The nose is crocheted in Soft Apricot in spiral rounds with single crochet stitches.

  • Crochet the nose in spiral rounds in Soft Apricot.
  • Round 1: 6 sc into the Magic Ring (6 stitches).
  • Round 2: Crochet 6 sc (6 stitches).
  • Round 3: Crochet only 1 decrease.
  • Finish: Cut the yarn generously and leave a long tail for sewing.

Crochet the Ears (2x)

The ears are crocheted in Bast or Sun-kissed in spiral rounds with chain stitches, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches and double crochet stitches. Crochet a total of 2 ears.

  • Crochet the ears spiral rounds in Bast or Sun-kissed.
  • Round 1: Crochet the following stitches into the Magic Ring: 3 sc, 1 half double crochet, 1 double crochet, 2 chain stitches, 1 sc.
  • Finish: Cut the yarn generously and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembling

Legs: After you’ve finished crocheting all pieces, start sewing the legs onto the body. Start sewing the first leg onto the body directly over the edge that was created by the round that was crocheted only into the back loop. Sew on the second leg 4 to 5 stitches left or right from the first leg, again just over the edge.

Arms: Sew the arms left and right onto the body, 1 stitch row under the “neck”. Do not sew the arms directly over the legs but slightly behind the legs.

Eyes: Attach the safety eyes after the 3rd stitch row counting from the hair line. The eyes are 4 stitches apart from each other.

Nose: Sew the nose centered under the eyes onto the head, as shown in the pictures.

Ears: Sew the ears 4 stitches right and left from the eyes onto the head, so that the upper part of the ear is on the same height as the eyes.

Hair: First cut open the loops of the loop stitches.

Then use a fur brush to corrugate the individual threads.

Finally, you can shorten and trim the hair as desired.

Eyebrows: Embroider the eyebrows with a black thread diagonally over the eyes as shown in the picture.
