Amigurumi Wario Crochet Pattern

This post is also available in: Español

Wario, the money-hungry and treasure-seeking adversary of Mario, has been up to mischief in the Mushroom Kingdom since 1992.

Even if Wario at the beginning always appeared only as a bad guy, nowadays he has become rather an anti-hero and does again and again the one or other good thing, without probably knowing it himself.

With this crochet pattern you can get this little money-hungry meanie into your house by yourself, but before you should hide all valuables.

Wario is crocheted with chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches and double crochet stitches in spiral rounds and in rows and is easy to crochet.

The depicted amigurumi Wario has been crocheted with the “Schachenmayr Catania” yarn with a 2.5 mm crochet hook and has sitting a height of 5.5 cm.

Assembling

Legs: After you’ve finished crocheting all pieces, start sewing the legs onto the body. Start sewing the first leg onto the body directly over the edge that was created by the round that was crocheted only into the back loop. Sew on the second leg 6 to 7 stitches left or right from the first leg, again just over the edge.

Arms: Sew the arms left and right onto the body, 1 stitch row under the “neck”. Do not sew the arms directly over the legs but slightly behind the legs.

Eyes: Attach the safety eyes after the 7th stitch row counting from the top center of the head. The eyes are 4 stitches apart from each other. Back to the crochet pattern.

Nose: Sew the nose centered, slightly down, between the eyes onto the head.

Ears: Sew the ears 3 to 4 stitches right and left from the eyes onto the head, so that the upper part of the ear is on the same height as the eyes. Also make sure that the slightly pointed end of the ears is facing up.

Beard: Sew on the beard pieces individually. Start at the nose and attach 4 beard pieces in a zigzag pattern on each side. Start each half of the beard close to the nose, by pushing a tapestry needlte through a stitch and let it emerge at the back of the head. Cut off the thread and hide it inside the head. The arrangement is done as shown in the pictures, but make sure that the last beard piece is one of the 2 pieces that has only one tail left.

Then sew on the second half of the beard.

Eyebrows: Attach the eyebrows slightly slanted over the eyes, as shown in the picture. To do this, push with a tapestry needle one tail of an eyebrow through a stitch above an eye, let it emerge from the back of the head, cut the thread and hide the leftover inside the head.

Suspenders: Attach one end of the suspender on the front at the beginning of the pants. Pull the suspender over the shoulder and attach the other end on the back side of the pants.

Repeat this in the same way for the second suspender.

Buttons: Take a White thread and form a circle with it, same as if you would do a basic knot. Wind one end of the thread 3 times through the circle and then tighten.

Pull the knot with a tapestry needle through the transition of suspender and pants. Hide the surplus thread inside the body. Attach a button on the left and right side.

Sideburns: Embroider the sideburns with a Coffee colored thread on the right and left side of the head with a tapestry needle as shown in the pictures.

Emblem: Sew the emblem centrered onto the front of the hat.

Then use a tapestry needle and a Violet thread to embroider an “W” onto the emblem.

Hat: Place the hat on the head. If necessary, it can also be sewn onto the head.
