Amigurumi Mage and Wizard Crochet Pattern

The profession of wizard, sorcerer or wizard, despite its many famous representatives such as Dumbledore, Gandalf and Merlin, has fallen into oblivion and is nowadays rather looked down upon. This is despite the unique skills one learns during training, such as turning people into donkeys and donkeys into people.

The lack of interest certainly has something to do with the black sheeps of the profession, like Voldemort, Saruman or Sauron. For these usually tried to bring in the end of the world rather than perform a fun party trick.

For this reason, the profession of mastering elemental forces is probably not as often suggested anymore to new generations as a potential career option.

However, if you want to have a reminder of this dying profession of the magician, just crochet yourself a small representative of the guild.

The crochet Mage and Wizard are crocheted with chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches and double crochet stitches in spiral rounds and in rows and is easy to crochet.

The depicted Amigurumi Wizards has been crocheted with the “Schachenmayr Catania” yarn with a 2.5 mm crochet hook and has sitting a height of 5.5 cm.

Eyes: Attach the safety eyes after the 7th stitch row counting from the top center of the head. The eyes are 4 stitches apart from each other.

Nose: Embroider the nose with a Soft Apricot or Bast colored thread. Embroider the nose centered under the eyes. To do this, pull the thread horizontally several times from one stitch through the next, skipping one stitch. Repeat until a thick nose forms.

Beard: Sew on the beard with a White (for the blue mage) or Coffee (for the red wizard) colored thread directly below the nose. The outer ends of the beard reach to the back of the head, as shown in the pictures.

Eyebrows: Attach the eyebrows directly above the eyes. Pull the ends of the threads of the eyebrows through two stitches above the eyes, with a distance of 1 stitch between them (see pictures).

Wand: Sew the wand to the mage’s right or left hand with a Soft Apricot colored thread.

Flame: The fire for the red wizard is made in the colors Sun, Signal Red and Mango. Cut two Sun, Signal Red and Mango colored threads to the same length.

Then knot the threads together in the middle with a Bast colored thread, as shown in the pictures, and cut the threads on both sides to one length.

Use a fur brush to fray the individual threads and cut them afterwards with sciccors into a flame like shape.

Sew the flame with the Bast colored thread to the right or left hand of the wizard.
